Padubidri NH-66 widening work picks up momentum

Padubidri, Sept. 5th 2018: NH-66 widening work has been almost complete except in the town of Padubidri. Although highway authorities had acquired land and affected buildings have been demolished, the widening work started only during the end of May this year. Due to heavy rainfall, the work could not progress and the people were badly affected due flooding and road damage. Now after rains have stopped, the widening work has picked up momentum and hopefully it would be completed within a month or two.

Mangalore bound buses still stop near a temporary bus shelter in front of SAS hotel and Udupi bound buses stop in front of former Navaang hotel. A lot of confusion prevails for the vehicles entering or exiting Kaakala road. There is no entry for the vehicles from Kamath Service station to Karkala road circle due to laying of pending storm water pipeline across the highway before Karkala road entry. If it doesn’t rain in coming days, the work could progress fast and people can get relief from a year long hardship.
