Rural talent Nehal becomes selected as the captain of Mangalore university cricket team

Padubidri, Jan.4th, 2018:  Rural talent Nehal Daniel D’Souza, son of Anand D’Souza – former cricketer of Padubidri Friends Cricketers, has been selected as the captain of Mangalore Univerisity cricket team.  Motivated and trained by his father at an early age, Nehal got better opportunity after his parents shifted to Ashok Nagar in Mangalore from their native place Muidarangadi.

 

Being a left-handed batsman, Nehal was recognised as Mangalore zone-level player.  Trained under coachers Rajarathna Yermal, Uday Kumar, Vijay Alva and Jairaj, he was selected for under 14, under 18, under 19 and under 20 state teams.  Thereafter, he played in first division cricket matches through St. Aloysius Recreation Club.  Later he played first division cricket for Bengaluru’s Mount Joy club.  He attracted attention by playing in last time’s MPL under Kundapur Sixers team..

His best peformance came in a Mangalore first division match in which he scored 238 runs.  Being a third year B.Com student in St. Aloysius college, Nehal was selected for the Mangalore University team for the last 3 consecutive years.  With his constant performance, he has been selected as the captain of the team for this year.

Currently, the Mangalore University team has left for Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh to play inter-universith cricket matches.
