Pejavara Mutt Swamiji breaks his fast but continues his protest after a meeting with District-in-charge minister Dr. V.S. Acharya
Padubidri, January 10th, 2012: After a closed-door meeting with District-in-charge minister Dr. V.S. Acharya and a request from chief minister, Pejavara Mutt Swamiji broke his fast, but continued his protest planned till Wednesday evening for not meeting his main demand. The state government has put forward three main agreements - 1. To form a task force to assess the environmental damages and submit its report every week. 2. To appoint two alternative experts nominated by the Swamiji. 3. To solve saline water problems, either to intall desalination plant or to use Mulki Shambhavi river water.
The closed-door meeting took place for about an hour and fifteen minutes in which apart from Pejavara Swamiji and Dr. V. S. Acharya, Kaup MLA Lalaji R. Mendon and Palimaru Shri Vidyadheesha Tirtha Swamiji were present. Pejavara Swamiji also announced that he would start fasting again if all environmental and other issues are not resolved within six months.
