Lanco's Udupi Power Unit awarded 'Gold Shield' national award
Padubidri, March 24th, 2012: Ministry of Power, Governement of India, awarded 'Gold Shield' national award for meritorious performance in power sector in recognition of outstanding performance during the year 2010-11 to Unit 1 of Udupi Power Corporation Ltd. for early completion of power project. The Award was presented by the Hon’ble Minister of Power, Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde, at a special award ceremony held on March 22nd, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
Commenting on receiving the accolade, Mr. L. Madhusudhan Rao, Executive Chairman, said, “It has been a challenging task for the entire team to commission the project in the least possible time frame. A 'concept to commissioning' EPC execution model that addresses time, cost and quality in every project is the philosophy of Lanco and the award reinforces the capabilities of the execution team as well as project management team."
The Udupi Power Corporation Limited has successfully implemented 2 x 600 MW Thermal Power Generating units in Udupi District of Karnataka State. The power from the project is supplied in the ratio 90%:10% to the State of Karnataka based on Long Term PPA with the State Discoms and Punjab respectively.
