Hejamady Boat Tragedy - One missing and two injured
Padubidri, August 28th, 2017:  In a boat tragedy at the entrance of Mulki estuary, one person went missing, two were injured and seven were rescued on Sunday morning.  The boat was returning from its fishing trip when a huge wave hit the boat and three people were thrown overboard.  The missing person is 26-year-old Tarun Puthran, son of Laxmi Naveen Bangera from Palimar's Hejamady-Hosagme. Injured Priyank and Bharath from Hejamady have been admitted to Srinivas Hospital in Mukka.
As usual, the mechanised boat 'Vithoba Rukumai' owned by Mohan Das from Hejamady Kodi had gone for fishing on Sunday morning with fishermen Bharath, Priyank, Tarun, Hareesh, Sukumar, Padmanabha, Praveen along with the boat owner.  While returning through Mulki estuary at around 10.30 am, the sea became turbulant with strong wind and rain.  As a huge wave hit the boat, the boat capsized and fishermen Priyank, Bharath and Tarun fell overboard.  The boat was brought back to upright position by the remaining fishermen while rescuing Priyank and Tarun.  As another wave hit the boat, drowned Tarun could not be found despite intensive search.  Missing Tarun has his mother and a brother at home.

Padubidri police have registered a case as per complaint lodged by the boat owner.
