12-year-old miniature clay artist from Inna bags national award
Padubidri, August 4th, 2017:  Laren Pinto, a terracotta artist from Inna has bagged "Rashtreeya Vibhushana" national award at the "Karnataka Parampare Janapada Lokotsava" and "Akhanda 5th Rashtreeya Kavi Sammelana" organised by Kannada Cultural department in association with Bharata Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya Engineering Foundation trust, held at Bengaluru. He received the award from Vishva Vokkaliga Mutt's Shri Kumara Chandrshekharanatha Swamiji,  MLC Ramachandra Gowda and senor jounalist Mullahalli Soori.
Fed up of his mischieves while studying in the 1st standard, his mother sent him to an art school as a student of famous artist Venky Palimar.  Motivated by his teacher, Laren got attracted towards clay art.  Leaving aside pencil and paper, he started giving right shape to rough shapes of clay and made nice sculptures from it.  After four years of hard work he became an expert in the field, to the entire satisfaction of his teacher.
His miniature sculptures are arranged in an attractive manner, all over the garden at his residence "Pinto Villa" in Inna. He also gave training to child clay artists at over a hundred workshops, such as, "Chinnara Mela" at Alvas Moodbidri, "Hombelaku" at Manipal, "Play with clay" at Palimar, "Bhava Taranga" at Hattiyangadi and "World Sight Day" at Goliyangadi, thereby becoming a "mini guru" in his early age.

In recognition of his outstanding talent, Lawrence PInto was honoured with "Child Artist - Beladingala Bala Pratibhe" award by famous literateur Dr. Doddarange Gowda, at the 4th Akhila Karnataka Beladingala Sahitya Sammelana held at Hebri.

He has been honoured at many places, including Belman Shri Durga Parameshwari temple, Moodu Palimar Chavadi temple, Ajekar Kurpadi Yuva Vrunda's Adi Gramotsava, Belman Indian National Congress, Adve-Nandkur Koti-chennaya Kambala Samiti and other occasions. Laren is living in Inna near Palimar with his parents Ligory PInto and Jyoti Pinto.  Currently is studying in the 7thk standard at Belman Shri Laxmi Janardhana Internation school.  Apart from being a talented clay artist, he has also bagged many school awards in athletics, fancy dress, Karate, music, drawing and paper craft.
