World Tourism Day celebrated at Padubidri beach
Padubidri, Sept. 27th, 2016:  Inaugurating the World Tourism Day celebration at Padubidri beach on Tuesday, Sept. 27th, Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar said that expecting more income by tourism in the coming years, the government has decided to modernise all the seashores in coastal Karnataka and all the roads will be upgraded to two-lanes as per the plan worked out.  The event was organised by Udupi district administration, department of tourism in Udupi and Coastal tourism committee.
"Previously the state of Goa was in the first place in the field of tourism.  But in the recent years, state of Kerala has recorded a tremendous progress and secured No.1 place.  Karnataka has ample tourism opportunities and if they are utilised effectively, it is possible to generate more income with more job  opportunities.  Keeping this in mind, the promotion of tourism is planned," he said.  In the first stage, the road from Padubidri to Padukare will be upgraded to two-lanes and every year a new turism spot will be selected for upgradation.

Padubidri Grama Panchayat president Damayanti V. Amin said that the development of Padubidri beach under tourism is a golden opportunity for the people of Padubidri and the panchayat will co-operate fully.  Dr. G. Shankar from Udupi G. Shankar family trust said that the senior governement officials should attend such programmes.  "Although there are less opportunities for fishing, there are ample opportunities in the field of tourism. Importance should be given to beach cleanliness," he added.

Mendon, Kaup Block Congress president Naveenchandra J. Shetty, Moodabidri Alvas Education Foundation president Dr. Mohan Alva, Mumbai Bharat Bank Chairman Jaya C. Suvarna, Bangalore MRG group's Managing Director Prakash Shetty, Adani-UPCL's Kishore Alva, Mumbai Sai Palace Hotels Chairman Ravi Shetty, Mumbai Penisnsula group of hotel's Satish Shetty, Sachidanand Shetty,  Padubidri Grama Panchayat Vice-president Y. Sukumar, Udupi Grama Panchat Presidents Okkoota president Dr. Deviprasad Shetty, Mumbai's entrepreneurs Sanjay Shetty & Chandrahas Shetty, Divakar Shetty Kaup and Sai Radha Heritage owner and Coastal Tourism Committee president Manhohar Shetty were the chief guests.

District Department of Tourism Assistant Director Nagaraj welcomed the guests along with the  opening address. Hareesh Puthran compered.  Padubidri Sagar Vidya Mandir correspondent Sukumar Shriyan proposed vote of thanks.

Prior to the stage function, tug-of-war for men and women, bike stunts show, imported bikes display programmes were held.  After the stage function, 'Alvas Samsritika Vaibhava' programme entertained the crowd.
