'Sarvajaniika Katahapoopa (Kattadappa) Seve' offered at Shri Mahalingeshwara temple
Padubidri, August 13th 2016: 'Sarvajanik Katahapoopa (Kattadappa) Seve' was offered at Shri Mahalingeshwara Mahaganapathi temple on Saturday, August 13th. Thousands of devotees attended and received prasadam. The ceremony is held on the last Saturday of Shravana month and a sweet made of rice called 'Kattadappa' is distributed to the devotees as 'Prasadam'.
The devotees believe that the Kattadappa seva was started when a small dam (Kattepuni) at Kallatte was failing each time and after promising this sevice, it was successful.
Gajanana Yakshagana Kala Mithra Mandali performed Yakshagana Tala Maddale :Valimoksha' in the evening at 4 pm.
