Ready to fight against industries causing environmental damage - Mr. Sorake
Padubidri, June 25th, 2016: MLA Vinay Kumar said that he will not allow any industries causing environmental damage in his assembly constituency. "Adani-UPCl is causing environmental damage in the area and also not giving any employment to the local people. If these issues are not resolved soon I am ready to launch an intensified struggle again them," he said.
He was addressing the people at a function held at Padubidri Sri Narayana Guru auditorium on Saturday to distribute various government facilities to needy from Padubidri, Palimar, Hejamady, Tenka and Bada grama panchayats.
"They have given only 3 crores compensation to the local fishermen instead of Rs. 7 crores. We are not begging from them. They have given only partial grant out of 2% CSR fund amounting to Rs. 120 crores and that too because of our struggle," he alleged.
"I would not serve the people by becoming a slave of any company. It is our right to demand CSR grant and it should be made available to the people of surrounding villages," he demanded. He also said that he is ready to launch a protest to do justice to traditional country-boat fishermen. "I am ready to support any protest against the problems caused by new toll gate at Hejamady and the injustice to the local people," he warned.
Mr. Sorake was felicitated by the local fishermen during the occasion for helping them in availaing UPCL compensation. Congress Seva Dal president Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, Youth Congress president Vishwas V. Amin, Block Congress president Naveenchandra J. Shetty, Zilla Panchayat member Shashikanth Padubidri and Grama Panchayat member Ashok Salian were also felicitated for their role played in availing the compensation.
Padubidri Grama Panchayat president Damayanti V. Amin presided. Panchayat PDO Panchakshari Swamy compered. Various people's representatives, officials from various government departments, Grama panchayat PDOs, village accountants and staff were present.
