Participation in Scouts & Guides is complementary to physical and mental growth - Congress leader Oscar Fernandes
Padubidri, Feb. 1st, 2016:  Addressing the gathering at Mantra Surf club in Kolachikambala of Mulki during the valedictory function of 5-day-long National Water Adventure Sports camp for Rovers and Rangers of Bharat Scouts & Guides, former Union minister & senior congress leader Oscar Fernandes said that the participation in the activities of Scouts & Guides is complementary to physical and mental growth.

"Children should take full advantage of these activities and serve the nation," he said.  "Karnataka coast is best place for surfing and Mantra Surf club is in the first place by attracting the most tourists,"  He called upon students to visit the surf clh again in the future.
K. Abhaychandra Jain, the minister for Youth Services, Fisheries & Sports, said that Mantra Surf club is the best place for tourism and the government would provide 4 jet skis costing Rs. 10 laksh each and 6 Nos. geared bicycles costing Rs. 25,000 each.  He also said that Mulki Kolachikambala area will be developed as tourism centre.

Vasanth Bernard, Yogish Kotian Chitrapu, Pramod Kumar, M.A. Gafoor, Udupi disgrict Youth & Sports department depurty director Dr. Roshan Kumar Shetty and district Scouts & Guides' Kiran Kumar were the chief guests.

State Scout & Guides' district and local unit had organised the programme in association with Mantra Surf club.  Welcome Committee chairperson Sarvottam Anchan welcomed the guests.  Camp chief Anilendra Sharma gave introductory address. Pratim Kumar comered.  Welcome committee secretary Vijay Kumar Kubevoor porposed vote of thanks.
Minister K. Abhaychandra Jain was impressed with the geared bicycle and took a one-kilometer-long ride on the bicycle.
