Padubidri Grama Panchayat to receive Rs. 2.77 crores grant from Adani Foundation & UPCL's CSR fund
Padubidri, Jan. 16th, 2016: Sanction letter for a grant of Rs. 2.77 crores to Padubidri Grama Panchayat under Corporate Social Responisbility (CSR) fund from Adani Foundation and Udupi Power Company Ltd. (UPCL) was handed over on Saturday at a function held at the meeting hall of the Panchayat.
UPCL's Executive Director Kishore Alva handed over the sanction letter to Padubidri Grama Panchayat president Damayanti V. Amin during the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Alva said that an amount of Rs. 2.77 crores released in the first phase, out of Rs. 5 crores worth working project plan forwarded by the Panchayat. "Padubidri being the biggest Grama Panchayat among the surrounding villages, people's various demands will be looked into and suitable action will be taken. As a result of consistent demand from the people, the financial aid is being released. The company has already released a total aid of Rs. 40 crores," he said.
Padubidri Grama Panchayat vice president Y. Sukumar said that instead of releasing small grants, it would be prudent to release lumpsum money in order to solve the the major problem faced by the people of Padubidri, i.e. lack of drainage system. Panchayat president Damayanti V. Amin said that the grant was released due to people's struggle and she requested the company to co-operate towards the development of Padubidri in the future too.
Former Taluk Panchayat member Naveenchandra J. Shetty, Grama Panchayat past president Vijay M. Amin, UPCL official Girish Navada and others were present. Padubidri PDO Panchakshari Swami proposed vote of thanks.
