Notorious thief nabbed by Padubidri Police
Padubidri, Jan.8th, 2016:  The special squad of Padubidri police have arrested a notirious thief involived in hundreds of theft in DK, Udupi and Chickmagalur districts since 1980.  He had been convicted and jailed a dozen times previously and was recently released from the jail.  Police have recovered 38 gms of gold from him. These details were given by Kaup Circle Inspector Sunil Nayak in a press conference held at Padubidri police station on Friday.
Chickmagalur's Uppalli resident Abubakkar (64) alias Abdul Khader alias "Itte Barpe" / "Kinetic" Abubakkar is the accused.  Police have recovered 39 gms of gold jewellery consisting of 2 bangles, one necklace, one ring and also a mobile phone, with a total value of Rs. 1.5 lakhs.

As reported earlier, in December, he had gained entry to one Mr. Janardhan Rao's house near Admar PU college and stolen 70 gms of gold jewellery and Rs. 6000 of cash.  Padubidri police had registered a case and had utilised the services of dog squad and the fingerprint experts.  When the fingerprints were compared with those thieves who were arrested at various police stations all around the state, they matched with those of Abubakkar's.  Thereafter the circle inspector formed a special squad headed by Padubidri police sub-inspector Azmat Ali to nab the culprit.  Police arrested him after getting positive information that he will be appearing in a court in Bantwal for witness on January 4th. Next morning he was produced in front of Udupi court and the court handed over him to a four-day police  custody.  His partner in the theft is absconding after they had shared the loot equally.

Abubakkar was arrested red-handed by Padubidri police seven years ago during a theft and he was released from the prison after serving his jail term.  He is involved in around 40-45 theft cases in three districts.  He informed that he had been in and out of jail 13 times.

The police operation was carried out under the direction of Karkala ASP Dr. Sumana, with the help of Circle inspector, SI, ASI, constables Nagesh, Praveen, Vishwajit, Dharmappa, Shridhar, Balasubrahmanya, Jagadheesh, Jeevan and others.
