He had worked as a reporter and also as a columnist in several newspapers including Udayavani, Janavahini, Lankesh and Jayakirana.

Thorugh his writings he had highlighted several problems faced by people in the undivided DK district and had contributed remarkably to solve those problems.  He had immense writing skillst with a special talent in many fields including Tulu language, culture and science.

He was also in the forefront in the struggle against Nargarjuna power plant (presently Udupi power company) and also had gone to jail.  He had special affection towards poor people and had rendered his helping hand through  his writings.

He had remained unmarried.

His last rites were performed at the Hindu crematorium in Kanchinadka on Friday,  with the help of journalists from Kaup press club, Buntara Sangha Padubidri and other well-wishers. 

Udupi Working Journalists Association, Kaup Press club, Udupi Press club, Mulki Press club, Kemaru Shri Eesha Vittaldasa Swamiji, Aspen Infrastructure General Manager Ashok Shetty, Kaup Block congress president Naveenchandsra J. Shetty, Kaup BJP paresident Prakash Shetty Padebettu, Vishukumar Shettibal, Padubidri Bunts Association president Manohar Shetty, Dr. Y.N. Shetty, Padubidri Beedu Arasu Rathnakar Raj Arasu Kinyakka Ballal, Bhaskar Padubidri and others conveyed their condolences.
Journalist Jayanth Padubidri passes away
Padubidri, Oct. 20th, 2017:  Fearless journalist Jayanth Padubidri (55) passed away on Friday after a brief period of illness.  His powerful and fearless writings had attracted a lot readers. Being a bold environmentalist, he was in the forefront in the successful struggle against Cogentrix power company and a another envirnonmentally harmful company in Padubidri, through his writings.
Condolence meeting:  Kaup press club and Jaykanth Padubidri's well-wishers organised a condolence meeting at Padubidri Buntara Bhavana on Friday.  Press club president Balakrishna Poojary presided.  Janapada scholar Dr.  Y.N. Shetty spoke on the occasion and said Mr. Padubidri was a daring journalist with a lot of self-respect and confidence.  "With his secular veiws, he did not differentiate between people of different casts and religions.  I say Hats-off to his knowledge." he said.  Padubidri Beedu Arasu Rathnakar Raj Arasu Kinyakka Ballal said Jayanth Padubidri was a strong fighter and with his wirtings he did not spare even his erring close associates   His friend Divakar Bhat also spoke on the occasion and said Jayanth Padubidri was a outstanding writer and his writings were worth reading again and again.  Dinesh Kini from Prime TV said if anyione has transformed the style of writing, it is none other than Jayanth Padubidri.

Senior journalist Paramanand Salian expressed his condolences and prayed for the departed soul.  Bunts Welfare Association President Shashidhar Shetty Yermal said, "Jayanth Padubidr had a personality of swiming against the tide and he never compromised on his reporting."  Sadashiv Padubidri, Jaya Shetty Padra, Arif Mohammad and others also spoke on the occasion and expressed their condolences.  A minute's silence was observed for the departed soul.

Journalist Hareesh Hejmady compered and Suresh Yermal proposed vote of thanks.
