Preparations for maiden Tulu film on Brahmashri Narayana Guru
Mulki, December 1st, 2013: Preparations are on for a maiden Tulu film on the the life of Bhrahmashri Narayana Guru, to be produced by Rajshekhar Kotian "The film is aimed at propagating Brahmashri Narayana Guru's teachings, ideals and life story and teach moral values to the younger generation, rather than earning money from the film," said Mr. Kotian. Famous Kannada film actor "Challenging Star" Darshan will clap the board for the first shot of the film on its "Mahurat" on December 15th, at Bappanadu Shri Durga Parameshswari temple.. As seen in the picture, Rajshekhar Kotian (on the right) looks like a younger twin of Darshan (on the left).
Rajshekhar Kotian is originally from Santhur near Mudarangadi and has been a Mumbai-based hotel entrepreneur. He has acted in 2 Tulu films (Including new coloured version of Koti Chennaya, as Chennaya) and 30 films of other languages. He has acted in the leading role in hit films like Stunt Master, Antargami, Jeevana Dhare and as a villain in recent films Partha and Ayya, with a filmi name of "Siddhartha" This is his maiden venture in Tulu film production with a major role in direction as well.
The film team comprises of many experienced artistes. The songs are written by senior literateur Amrith Someshwara, Sudhakar Bannanje, The music is directed by Praveen Godkhindi, a flute player of international fame, with Janapada touch. Udit Narayan and Rameshchandra will be the leading singers for the film. Cinematography will be by famous cameraman P.H.K. Das, a reciptient of Aryabhata and Rajyothsava awards. Sudhakar Bannanje has written the dialogues and the film is being edited by Sathish Poojary. Devraj Palan will be the assistant director.
After six month's search for leading role of Brahmashri Narayana Guru, experienced actor Venkatadri was selected among the hundreds of actors checked for Brahmashri's facial and emotional expressions. The actor has also has studied the life of Brahmashri deeply and this is the added advantage apart being the right person chosen for the role," Mr. Kotian said happily. Other artistes include Vijaya Raghavendra of "Big Boss" and "Chinnarimuttha" fame, famous TV serial actor Suryodaya, Bhoomika, Sangita Shetty, along with Tulu comedy kings Bhojaraj Vamanjur, Aravind Bolar, stage actors Sudhir Kottari, Nayana Sachin, Shobha Rai, and Anusha Kulal are acting in the film.
Billava community leader Jaya C. Suvarna, senior personality M.B. Kukkian, Minister Abhay Chandra Jain (as Rabindranath Tagore), eminent personalities of Tulu literature Umanath Kotian, Dr. Ganesh Amin Sankamar, local stage artists Balakrishna Shetty from Mumbai, Ranjith, Ashok Karnad, Chandrakanth and others will have special appearance in the film.
The film shooting will take place in Mulki, Katapadi, Karkala, Barkur, Surathkal, Brahmavara, Belthangadi, Kudroli and also at Shivagiri in Kerala. The shooting is expected to be complete at one stretch in a month's time. The movie is expected to be released in the month of April, 2014. in DK & Udupi districts, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Surat, Dubai and the other gulf countries.
The film "Mahurat" is set for December 15th, at Bappanadu Shri Durga Parameshwari temple. "Challenging star" Darshan will clap (click) the board for the first scene. Kerala Shivagiri Mutt's Shri Satyananda Tirtha Swamiji will give blessings. Rashtriya Billava Maha Mandala president Jaya C. Suvarna will preside. Udupi MP Jayaprakash Hegde, Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Urban Development minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Youth services department and fisheries minister Abhayachandra Jain, Tulu Sahitya Academy past president Umanath Kotian, other social workers, film artistes will be present.
